Admission first

You generally need admission to a state-recognised higher education institution before the main student visa route.

Proof of funds

Official German guidance says students can prove living-cost support through a blocked account, scholarship or declaration of commitment.

Language evidence

Some programmes require language proof, commonly around B2 depending on the course and teaching language.

Work and stay after graduation

Students are generally allowed to work up to 140 full days or 280 half days per year, and graduates may extend stay to look for qualified work.
